I am soo behind on my blogging and itching to catch up on some really fun events that have happened since the last update. I have been so busy enjoying said events and preparing for the next ones (oh yeah, and being a crazy mom of two) in the meantime. So unfortunately instead of any real update, his is a lame one, which purpose is to say, I'm going on a fabulous vacation to Yellowstone with Michael's family, during which time I will have no internet. I don't know how I will handle the withdrawal. It will probably be good for me. I'll just have to postpone the posting until after we return.
(I wish I could promise a lot of fabulous posts when I return, but at the delayed rate I've been at, I can make no such promise--only if I have insomnia tonight I might post a bunch--sorry I'm so lame--wow, does it really take so many words to say so little? apparently it does for me.)

not so fast
The day after her birthday, I overheard the following conversation:
Mike: so how does it feel to be 3 years old?
Riley: good
Mike: so are you ready to be a big girl now that you are 3?
Riley: no, not quite yet.
It cracked me up. All we hear about is getting bigger and being a big girl using the potty, eating big girl food, riding big girl bike, and what Emma will be able to do like Riley when she is a big girl. What a character.
Mike: so how does it feel to be 3 years old?
Riley: good

Three
I can't believe that Riley is already three years old! Here is an extremely long slide show to flashback on all that is Riley: silly, crazy, and darling.
On the big day, Riley had her very first party with friends and it was great!! The kids played games, ate lunch, decorated cupcakes, what could be better?
Well, maybe actually eating said cupcakes, but oh well. At least the table looked great and the presents were beautifully wrapped and Riley got to eat mac-n-cheese AND pigs in a blanket her very favorite foods. We had so much fun. After naps and quiet time we saw a movie and then went to McDonald's for dinner, where Riley climbed all over the playland for the first time. She was spoiled all day long and loved it. We had fun celebrating and Michael was enjoying any excuse to put off studying for finals.
A few days later we let Riley open a few more presents. We kind of held them back because we knew she wouldn't be able to do anything else once she saw them. Some friends had given us their old tiny bike w/training wheels a long time ago, but she was never allowed to ride it without a helmet. So we finally found one small enough and luckily it was even pink!
We are so proud of our little girl who is so happy and helpful and beautiful and bright. What change and joy she has brought into our lives. We are so lucky to have her in our family!!! We love you, Riley!

Family Fun
Memorial Day was memorable. We have a wonderful friend (you know who you are) that got us hooked up with free VIP passes and took us and another family to the Family Fun Center (imagine Chuck E Cheese on steroids) and we had a blast. I was worried Riley would be too young to enjoy it and but the cheap voice in my head kept saying 'well at least you get to go for free.' Well I had NOTHING to worry about because it was so much fun for the whole family. We played mini golf and Riley did awesome for her first time (we totally let her cheat--it was darling). I drove go-karts for the first time and it was fun, fun, fun!! There was bumper boats and a whole area just full of rides for toddlers. Batting cages, trampolines, and even a crazy swing ride--intense. And that was just outside. We were treated to lunch and the pizza was pretty darn good, I was impressed. We played some arcade games and Riley traded in all the tickets we won for some silly prize which she thought was the coolest toy ever. Thanks friend for a fabulous time!
